Prepared for the Journey

Everyone presumes that the journey begins the moment you take that first breath. But I want you to think about this for a moment. God’s word says in Romans 8:29, English Standard Version that God foreknew and predestined us before the foundations of the world. This means that even before he created the heavens and the earth that we now call our temporary home God had a relationship with us. So, the journey did not begin at your first breath but rather before the foundations of the world. In fact, God says that he predestined us which means that every breath, every moment, every challenge, every victory was planned for you in advance by God.

I wanted to dive into this because often times we worry about the future. What am I here for? What is my purpose? Should I do this or that? Instead of reaching out for guidance to the one who knew you before the foundations of the world and predestined everything for you. People walk around wondering what they are here for. When I am stuck and I don’t know what direction to go in or what decision to make I know I can always reach out to God for the answer. Why? Because he knows everything about the specific purpose and plan. It was God that took care of every detail before the foundations of the world. So, if I think that I should go left but God tells me to go right, then guess what? I go right even though I feel like going left. It’s all about trusting the one who designed you for a specific purpose.

So, you see your journey began the moment God purposed in his heart to create you for a purpose before He even thought of the earth He thought of you. Furthermore, not only did God think of you, He thoughtfully planned out every detail of your journey. In fact, some people who go through double trouble ask why they are in the situation that they are in. If I took a guess, I would probably be safe in saying that they did not consult with God or listen to his prompting when He told them to go in a certain direction. Why walk around aimlessly lost when you can just ask the one who planned every detail of your journey? When you are traveling and you get lost you pull up your navigation system on your phone and get directions. Well, it is the same with God, when you find yourself not knowing what to do you consult with God and ask for direction.

Your ability to be inspired, empowered and connected to great people for a cause are based on how well you maintain your relationship with God.
